A catalogue for Carsten Höller’s ‘Test Site’, the seventh Unilever Series installation at Tate Modern. The installation consisted of a series of five giant playground slides spiralling down into the Turbine Hall.
Moving away from the conventional Unilever Series format, we created a two-part catalogue. Part one entitled ‘Test Site’ documents the installation and explores the potential for the
use of the slide in the public realm. Part two entitled ‘Source Book’ is a collection of texts and images that inspired the artist.
The catalogues could be purchased individually, but the cover design suggests their integral relationship by depicting different crops of the same image which join up when placed together. Depending on which way they are placed together, either the complete image or book titles are readable but never both at the same time. This created interesting display opportunities in the Tate Modern shop.
