Derwent London is a design-led property company with a reputation for high quality, contemporary architecture and innovative refurbishment. We designed the identity and marketing material for one of their key developments ‘The Johnson Building’, a refurbished office building in Hatton Garden, London.
Inspiration for the marketing brochure came from the cool interiors, high quality concrete, natural materials and the prominent circular luxcrete lens used in the atrium flooring. The understated graphic approach reflects the contemporary architecture and places the building in a modern context which was aimed at the advertising, design and legal sectors.
We also designed an ‘inspiration’ brochure which tells the story behind the making of the building. It reveals architectural influences, early design sketches and talks about the history of the site. Both brochure covers incorporate the subtle circular grid motif on a silver background and use tactile techniques such as die-cutting and embossing.
The identity was also carried through to construction hoardings, windows, the marketing suite and the permanent signage.
