WalkRide is an information and movement identity for NewcastleGateshead that seamlessly combines information for both pedestrians and public transport users in the city.
Cartlidge Levene worked in collaboration with City ID to develop the identity and city centre map for pedestrians. The map is the first to present Newcastle and Gateshead
as one destination. Careful editing of information and a simple typographic hierarchy provides a balance between richness and legibility. Illustrated landmarks are used as engaging elements to make the map approachable and friendly. On the reverse side transport information
is presented in a clear, simple layout. ‘Here’ and ‘There’ stickers were produced as a tool for Visitor Information Centre staff to highlight destinations and routes.
We also designed the livery and related information for a new city centre bus service QuayLink, as
part of the overall WalkRide identity project.
